Objectives of Sanathnagar Pilot

  • 1. Reduction of NRW from 37% to 20% in one year.
  • 2. To nurture water leadership (WaLC) among the citizens to conserve and save water.
  • 3. To demonstrate technical interventions to reduce NRW.
  • 4. To improve the existing efficiency and to make the pilot project revenue positive.

Social Interventions

  • 1. Engaging NGO’s and allocation of Jurisdictions within the constituency for social mobilisation.
  • 2. Volunteer identification (existing and New – Manager wise).
  • 3. Training of Volunteers.
  • 4. Forming the Volunteers Whats App groups area wise for communication.
  • 5. Preparation of event Calender with NGOs taking lead.

Section wise Activities proposed

  • 1. Awareness campaigns.
  • 2. Rallies and runs.
  • 3. Focused Group Discussions with SHGs and RWAs.
  • 4. Door to Door Campaigns.
  • 5. Visit to schools and Colleges.
  • 6. Meetings with Corporators, MLAs and other local ward members.
  • 7. Hoardings at prominent places.
  • 8. Audio publicity through mobile autos.
  • 9. Video and Short films projection during meetings.
  • 10. Special drive campaigns to reduce NRW by fixing the meters at commercial premises like Hospitals, shopping malls, hotels and restaurants, movie theaters, hostels, MSBs, beauty parlors, pubs, Government establishments etc.

Mapping and Auditing of Water efficient Houses

  • Baseline survey - category of water connection, bore well status, presence of RWHS, Meter status Billing and payment Leakages and wastage at household level Unauthorized connections Illegal usage of motors
  • Color coding of the Houses based on wastage.
  • Identify the houses for counseling.
  • Track the houses for change of color coding with intended behavior change.
  • Visit wise mapping of the houses on the Participatory urban mapping.
  • Tracking of water saved of each visit assessing the reduced water wasted.
  • Documenting of each of the visit and uploading on the website.

Proposed actions at the Household and Community Level

  • 1. Fixing Bibcoks.
  • 2. Construction of RWHS at Household level.
  • 3. Meter readings , bill payment and regularization.
  • 4. Regularization of unauthorized connections.
  • 5. Conversion of connections based on the houses, floors, from domestic to commercial etc.
  • 6. Fixing of meters where required.
  • 7. RWHS at schools, institutions, colleges, wherever the open spaces are available.
